From The Back Cover-
It’s the year 2028 and it’s been ten years since it last rained . . . anywhere in the world
Ten-year-old Anoushqa has never seen rain and doesn’t believe in the stories that her grampa tells of rainbows, thunder and lightning. Until, one day, her life is turned upside down when her beloved grampa is on his deathbed and his last wish is to see rain! Thus Anoushqa sets out on a journey to make it rain. Will Anoushqa be able to fulfil Grampa’s dream after all? The Little Rainmaker is a story of hope, power and the fierce determination of a little girl in the face of an acute environmental crisis.
It is a wonderful story of a girl Anoushqa. She lives in the world of 2028, which is completely different from the world in 2018. It has not rained for last 10 years and the air has dried completely. You can’t step out of your house without putting up a lot of gadgets and chemicals.
Anoushqa has her very nice Grampa who tells her a lot of stories. But for the last few days, he is not well and it is possible that he will be no more soon. Her Grampa’s last wish is to see the rain, in which he played a lot in his childhood.
Anoushqa takes it as a challenge and sets out to complete the last wish of his lovely Grampa. She tries a lot of methods and she also gets support from a large no. of people.
The ending is both happy as well as sad and it teaches a lot.
This is a very interesting story for children (although I also loved it). Written in a unique and very interesting way, this story will spellbind you.
A very good mixture of Science-fiction and fantasy, this book will take you to a completely different and new world of the future. There is much written in the story which may become true in future if we continued like this. It is also possible that maybe someday it will rain for the last time.
With an engaging and interesting story, this book is a must-read.
