The journey of a boy that began from a little-known village of Mathak in Gujarat, India, culminated in the creation of East Africa’s biggest business groups to straddle the industrial world of steel, cement, infrastructure and aviation. This is the inspiring story of Narendra Raval, endearingly known as ‘Guru’, who began from the most humble beginnings to reach the zenith of his career through tireless hard work, an inherent business acumen and sheer tenacity.

His autobiography, in collaboration with his dear friend and colleague, Kailash Mota, traces four decades in the
life of Guru Bhai Narendra Raval. It is hard to believe that the astute businessman, who successfully built a
US$ 650 million industrial empire, began his work life as a young, teenage priest in Nairobi, Kenya. Today,
Guru Bhai runs his business empire with more than 4,500 employees spread across East Africa. He was
also featured among the top 50 richest men in the Forbes Africa 2015 list.

A fascinating, awe-inspiring autobiography, A Long Walk to Success is a legacy of wisdom and guidance for young entrepreneurs inspiring to walk in Guru Bhai’s footsteps.

It is the journey of a boy who once dreamt of Helicopters and now owns an aviation company which makes helicopters and even owns his own personal helicopter. It is the story of a boy who once starved due to poverty and is now one of the top 50 richest people in Africa. It is the story of Narendra Raval, It is the story of Guru Bhai.

The journey of Guru Bhai from the small village of Mathak to Kenya is full of hardships and challenges. In Kenya also, he faced challenges. But this challenges and hardships made him tough and made him what he is now, a millionaire. But even if he has earned a lot of money, he has not forgotten that in some parts of the world people still starve to death and die due to cold. So, he donates with an open heart.

As a child, he was a very mischievous boy. Doing pranks and cracking jokes was his routine. Inventing new ideas of earning money was his passion. He changed houses and schools every 1-2 years due to his mischievous nature. He had to live in a boarding school also when his parents got tired of his nature.

He has mentioned these all things in his biography. He has also included anecdotes and small incidents from his life which are both interesting and inspiring.

The writer of the book, Kailash Mota, has written the biography in such a wonderful way that I think it is the best biography I ever read. I was hooked to this book like I get hooked to other fictional books. I think the way in which it is written is the best way to write a biography.

Old and New pictures of various places, persons, etc. -which are mentioned in the story- are also included in this book.

Bitter and Happy both types of incidents and memories are shared from his life.

There are so many quotes from Guru Bhai included in the Biography and highlighted in Bold letters.

It is truly an Inspirational story of a successful person who was once deprived of even good food and clothes. I think you must read this book once in a lifetime and I bet you will gain a lot after reading this.

Details About The Author-

Kailash Mota is a chartered accountant, who gave up his successful career after twenty-eight long years. Writing has been his passion, and this is his first attempt at penning a formal autobiography. It took the author nearly six months to convince Mr Raval to have his autobiography written.

researching the latter’s inspiring journey through life. The entire process of collecting material for the autobiography and penning it down took him nearly two years to complete. During this period, he met and interviewed people from India as well as Kenya, who had influenced Guru Bhai as a child, as a teenage
priest in Bhuj and Nairobi, and then as an industrialist and philanthropist.
